Easy Online Towing Training

By Wally Cass towing business owner/operator

I have developed a online towing information and training course which explains in detail everything about the towing business. There are over 30 topics, 60+ videos, illustrations, forms, and much more. This online towing course has taken several years to develop and I think you will be pleased with the towing information, But first let me explain who I am and my towing background.

I started towing in 1987 for a large company in San Diego and remained with them for seven years. They had over a hundred tow trucks and eight impound yards. I drove every type of tow truck in their fleet, flatbeds, wheel lifts, sling trucks, heavy duty Vulcan, multiple car carrier and a Landoll for heavy duty flatbed transport.

After I had several years of towing under my belt I completed a CTTA towing training course and moved up to the heavy duty class, performing roll over's and recoveries. The heavy duty towing class was challenging because no accident scene was the same. This made my job more exciting.

old car tilt trailer

This is the old temporary car trailer that I started my towing business with in 1995. It was small and the axles were fixed to the tilting bed. It only had 3500 lb. axles. Not a very good design.

After seven years with this company I decided to start my own towing business in my home state of WA. I started on a shoe string and bought a used hydraulic tilt car trailer that was in much need for an upgrade. It was just temporary until I built my own car trailer. I actually built two of them.

This is the new custom gooseneck car trailer that I built in 1997 with 5600 lb. axles and a diamond plate deck. Note how the axles stay on the ground when the bed is tilted. It also has a low profile loading angle. The bed only has to tilt 17 inches.

Did you know that I offer the trailer plans to my custom gooseneck hydraulic tilt trailer in the members area? The plans are not made by a professional drafter but I did do my best to give all dimensions and describe how I built it. Yes, that is a Willy's Coupe with the original steel body. It was a rare barn find and the owner had me tow it multiple times from shop to shop. Alot of money went into that car.

This is the same trailer in 2010, only now it is painted red to match the new truck. I sold the trailer toward the end of 2012 to a member of the towing course who was starting his own towing business and he drove all the way from Colorado to WA. to purchase it. He seemed very happy with the trailer and all the goodies that went with it.

I originally designed the fenders so that they would fold out but they were eventually welded closed as vehicle doors when opened would clear the fenders easily.

Very easy to maneuver the trailer into small spaces by jack knifing the truck and trailer.

After 25 years in the towing business I have retired due to some physical disabilities and decided to share what I have learned. When I started my towing business it was a little confusing at first because I had to learn everything on my own and there was not a website that I could learn from at the time. Of course I knew how to tow but I did not know all the other stuff that was needed, like how to sign up with the motor clubs and what was needed to contract with them. Then there was accounting, billing, invoicing, insurance, taxes, business licence, business planning, towing equipment, office equipment, software etc. I simply learned as I went and I could have saved a lot of time and money if I had the information beforehand. That is where this website will help you.

You will learn how to hook up to a vehicle properly to avoid damage claims and the possibility of ending up in court. I have never had a damage claim while operating my business. I had a couple of damage claims while I was working as an employee and I will tell you what I did wrong so that you can avoid the same mistakes. Information is in video format, illustrations and descriptions.

Also included in video format: how to unlock vehicles properly in under three minutes. Don't use a Slim Jim on modern cars or else you might damage the electronics in the door or even knock the linkage loose. You would then have to take the door apart or hire someone to fix it.

Motor Clubs: Get the information you need to contract with the motor clubs. This includes phone numbers and addresses. You can usually sign up with them online but you will want to call them first and ask to speak with the regional manager. You will want to ask how many competitors in your area and what can you expect for call volume?. What are their insurance requirements? There is much more to learn about the motor clubs and this section is well worth checking into.

Towing Equipment: I explain in detail about every item you will need for towing and service calls. Service calls include: jump starts, lockouts, tire changes and gas delivery. Learn some of things you will need for service calls or items that will help save you time and money in the long run. For instance you find out that you have to jump start a vehicle on the freeway. How are you going to handle this? Don't go out and buy a set of 50 foot jumper cables to reach the front of the car! They are expensive and time consuming. instead go out and buy a good portable jump starter with a high amperage output and keep it charged. I hear people say that their portable jump starter didn't last and that's because they didn't keep it charged up. I have had my portable jump starter for many many years and have had no problems with it and it has paid for itself many times over with the time and work that I saved. This is only one example of the equipment that I am talking about. There are so many things you should know and it's impossible to give it all to you right here.

Here are just some of the topics discussed: Accounting, business planning, tow trucks, business accounts, towing methods, towing equipment, towing videos, towing recovery, advertising, motor clubs, service calls, jump starts, lockouts, tire changes, winching, all about chain grade, hooks and attachments, safety and maintenance, trailer plans, towing procedures, bonus download "forms and letters" and members Q & A.

Here is the good news! You can get the towing training course and access members area for a one time fee of $39.95 via Paypal (debit and credit cards accepted) and it is good for a lifetime. You can access the members area anytime you want and learn at your own pace. You will also get all the personal support that you need from myself, anytime and as long as you need. This is what I do full time since I became disabled. I help people with their towing business questions and help people get on the right track to a successful towing business. Just one more thing. I offer a money back guarantee. If your not totally happy with the information simply ask for a refund and I will honor your request with no questions asked. I simply refuse to accept your money if your not happy with the towing information for any reason. Click Here to sign up for the towing course. I should mention that all I ask is that you do not share or give away the members area link however you can train your employees with this information or share with your co-workers within your company. If you have questions feel free to contact me.

I purchased the course a few weeks ago and after reading through it and viewing the videos I must say that it has been most informative.

By the way it is a great course. I learned a lot about how to secure the car properly and what kind of trailer to look for.

Thanks Wally,
I purchased last night, pretty good stuff, I have been researching towing for the past year and this is by far the most info I have found, specially on the roadside part of the business which is what I am aiming for. Anyway thanks Wally

I want to thank you for your website and the material on it. Too often people are unwilling to share the processes they went through to become a success and I am very grateful that you are not one of those people.

I'm excited about finding this towing information that you have made available because I asked a friend (that has his own towing service) if there was anywhere I could get towing training beforehand and he told me there was no type of training available other than hands on working with or for someone already in business. That bothered me, so I searched on line to see for myself if it was so and I came across your site and I got excited and shared this with him. I told him that this could help him also to build his knowledge on towing. He was so surprised and told me thanks for letting him know about it. So I will be forwarding this site information to him.

THANKS,
KAMCHASKA ALEXANDER

Thanks again for all the info you have taken the time to put together. I have found it very useful in my business planning. I am currently trying to startup a roadside assistance business. I am in Raleigh N.C. Thanks again!!!

Wally,

Just want to tell you how valuable your information has been to us. I'm not sure what would have happened to our start up towing business had I not found your website.

We started "towing" 3 months ago and thanks to your advise about motor clubs we've barely missed a lick.

Thanks and God Bless!

"Wow, wally , I am Luis Chacon and I purchased 1 flatbed on Ebay about 10 months ago. I paid for your website and to become a member. I read every word in it and followed your direction and instruction. My son asked me "dad you think we can do this ?" I told him wally said we can and if he did it so can we , we just need to be "about the business," our business . The tow truck I purchased was a 99 chevy c6500 for $8000 in basalt Colorado , we drove up there and drove it 1500 Miles back to San Antonio Texas in one of the worst snow storms Colorado had, after that trip I told my son tbis, " josh , the determination we showed just to drive that truck and get home in one piece is the same determination we need to put into the business. Wally we had never ever been in the tow business before. We had never even been in a tow truck, but with your advice and our determination we now have 3 truck 4 service trucks and we are buying another truck in the next week or so. We will do around $350,000.00 in our first year! I called all the motor clubs, I called every garage, I called every company in the city , I called every tow truck company and told them if they get backed up I can help them at a discount rate. I worked 24/7 and I haven't taken a day off , and I haven't accepted no as an answer to anything, I have made friends and enemies , I have been able to have my wife quite her job and work with us. I have been able to send one of my son's to school , and I have 7 children. Wally I never post and I rarely look at website anymore, not because I don't want to but because I am always towing. Wally I just want to tell you this: You changed my life, and I never said thank you, so here it is "THANK YOU WALLY CASS" .....it is 4:36 am I am writing you at this hour because I just got home from towing and 4 of my employees are still working. Can you believe that I have employees now . Because I listened to you. Please share this with everyone that subscribe to your site."
